We are working hard behind the scenes with our son’s farmhouse bedroom makeover and some big changes in our living room. I thought I would pop in today and share a winter sugar scrub recipe for those of you who need some pampering after the holidays. I have been making sugar scrubs and other bath products for years. They are natural, free of chemicals and preservatives, and are very inexpensive to make. They are also amazing at nourishing and exfoliating your skin. For this winter sugar scrub, you will only need 3 ingredients: coconut oil, sugar, and wintergreen essential oil. I chose wintergreen oil because of its benefits on the respiratory tract but this sugar scrub would also smell very wintry with essential oils of pine, fir needle, cypress, balsam fir or spruce. All of these oils have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties and they are especially good to use in the winter season when colds and the flu are more prevalent. For those of you who live in the north and are experiencing months and months of a cold and dark winter, you are probably familiar with winter blues. Using aromatherapy is a great way to enhance and uplift your mood during the long winter season.
- 1 cup of sugar
- 3/4 cup of coconut oil
- 5 drops of wintergreen essential oil
- Combine sugar and coconut oil in a bowl and stir well.
- Add essential oil and spoon scrub into glass jars.
I hope you take the time to pamper yourself this month and try this winter sugar scrub recipe.
